Interim service providers come in all shapes and sizes; some are stand-alone companies, others are divisions within a search organisation. Some specialise by function or sector, others are generalists.
Your first port of call might well be the Interim Management Association members who all work to a Code of Conduct, and there is a helpful page on selecting the right member here.
