Cultural fit "as important as management skills"
Advice from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) refers to cultural fit as one of the key attributes required of an interim manager by hiring clients.
Tara Daynes, an HR and Training consultant for CMI, comments in the article that "companies taking on interim managers should also look for a good cultural fit to make sure that there isn't a disconnection between their management and working style, and the culture of the organisation."
Tara also goes on to say that many of the more successful interim executives already have good relationships with the companies they are taken on by.
This is crucial advice for interims looking at winning more assignments. Candidates who pay particular attention to the management style needed for the role, and attempt to match that style from the outset, may well enjoy greater success than those who do not.
