Recruiting with care and the use of interim managers
In times of rapid growth, hiring an interim to step in until the right people are recruited can make up a crucial part of a company's hiring strategy, as stated in the Sunday Times by Jennifer Price of the interim provider Archer Mathieson.
Employers must be careful to accrue people with the rights skills and motivation, according to Simon Mosey, director of the Institute for Enterprise and Innovation at Nottingham University Business School, rather than reacting to growth without a clear recruitment strategy in mind.
Price agrees that the firm's strategy must take future expansion into consideration. This may result in "over-hiring" or taking longer to find the right people for the job.
She then goes on to recommend the use of interim managers to fill crucial management positions which may have opened up quickly as a result of rapid growth, as employers search for the right leaders to fit with the firm's ethos, which could easily be diluted with an influx of new staff.
